Allegheny County Ice Skating Rinks to Open This Week

The following is a news release from the County of Allegheny: 

The Allegheny County Parks Department today announced the North Park and South Parkice skating rinks will open on Thursday, November 7, weather and conditions permitting. The 2013-2014 ice skating season will run through mid-March.

For the first time, admission fees, passes and rentals have a two-tiered structure for residents and non-residents as found here (and seen in the table above.)

Both rinks are open Tuesday-Sunday, as follows.  Additionally, rinks are open 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving Monday (December 4, 2013), Christmas Eve (December 24, 2013), New Year’s Eve (December 31, 2013), New Year’s Day (January 1, 2014), Martin Luther King Jr. Day (January 20, 2014) and Presidents’ Day (February 17, 2014). For additional available hours, please call the rinks directly:  North Park Rink at 724-935-1280 and South Park Rink at 412-833-1499.

The North and South Park Rinks are closed on Mondays, Thanksgiving Day (November 28, 2013) and Christmas Day (December 25, 2013).

North & South Parks Rink Hours of Operation

• Tuesdays:  7:30-9:00 p.m.
• Wednesdays:  9:00-11:00 a.m.; 12:00 noon-3:00 p.m.; 4:30-7:00 p.m.; and 7:30-9:00 p.m.
• Thursdays: 7:30-9:00 p.m.
• Fridays:  9:00-11:00 a.m.; 12:00 noon-3:00 p.m.; 4:30-7:00 p.m.; and 7:30-10:00 p.m.
• Saturdays:  11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.; 4:30-7:00 p.m.; and 7:30-10:00 p.m.
• Sundays:  11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.; 4:30-7:00 p.m.; and 7:30-9:00 p.m.

Special Ice Skating Events

• Family Skate Wednesdays:  4:30-7:00 p.m. Every Week

Residents $10 per family (2 adults and maximum of 4 children)
Non-Residents $13 per family (2 adults and maximum of 4 children)

• Sweetheart Couples Skate:  Friday, February 14, 2014, 7:30-9:00 p.m.

Buy one admission (regular rates apply), get one free.  Each couple will receive a carnation, while supplies last.

• South Park Ice Skating Show:  Monday, March 3, 2014, 7:00 p.m.

Admission is free.

• North Park Ice Skating Show:  Monday, March 10, 2014, 7:00 p.m.

Admission is free.

Rink Rentals

The ice skating rinks are also available for rent throughout the season. The cost for residents is $100 per hour when scheduled two weeks in advance, and $125 per hour for same-day rentals. The cost for non-residents is $125 per hour when scheduled two weeks in advance, and $156 per hour for same-day rentals.
