• Concert, other ceremonies will mark 25th anniversary of 9/11 (observer-reporter.com) — Canonsburg residents can join a 5K run and walk benefiting the Tunnel to Towers Foundation Saturday at 8 a.m., starting from Canonsburg Memorial Stadium. The area will also host several other 9/11 remembrance events, including services in South Strabane, Carmichaels, Cecil Township, Eldersville, and Connellsville, offering many ways to honor victims and first responders 25 years later.
• Registration Open for 2026 'Be Utility Wise' and 'Be Wise' Consumer Education Conferences Throughout Pennsylvania (pennwatch.org) — Human-service workers and advocates in and around Canonsburg can now register for the Pittsburgh-region 'Be Utility Wise' conference, set for Oct. 7 at the Hilton Garden Inn Southpointe. The free event offers training on utility affordability, consumer protections, and assistance programs, giving local professionals tools to better help struggling households across Washington County and southwestern Pennsylvania.
• Washington County Tourism Promotion Agency announces $110,300 in new tourism grants (triblive.com) — Washington County's tourism agency has awarded $110,300 in new grants, including $5,000 to promote factory tours at Sarris Candies' Canonsburg production facility during special events. Other grants will restore historic sites, improve trails, and market festivals countywide, aiming to draw more visitors, boost local spending, and support jobs across communities like Canonsburg and beyond.
