Big Macs Finish Second in North Hills Tourney Pool

The team's regular schedule continues at Trinity High School tomorrow.

The varsity boys volleyball team took part in a round-robin tournament at North Hills High School on Saturday, and finished with a 5-3 game record to place second in their pool, but lost to Moon in the playoffs.

The Big Macs picked up a pair of game wins over Pine Richland (25-14, 25-19) and Hopewell (25-23, 26-24), split a pair of games with South Park (27-26, 15-25), and lost twice to eventual tournament champion Butler (15-25, 16-25). Canon-McMillan was then knocked out of the tournament’s playoff rounds by Moon, 24-26.

The Big Macs’ junior varsity team also took part in the junior varsity portion of the tournament, and went 3-3 in game play to finish third in their pool before falling to North Hills in the playoff rounds. Butler also won the junior varsity tournament.

The Canon-McMillan junior varsity team split with each of their pool opponents—Farrell (25-15, 23-25), Seton LaSalle (20-25, 25-18) and Butler (27-25, 17-25).

The Big Macs (1-1, 1-1 WPIAL AAA Section 1) return to their regular schedule Monday night, when they travel to take on Trinity at 7 p.m.
