Big Macs’ Rally Falls Short Against Peters

The team will be back in action tomorrow at Upper St. Clair.

The Canon-McMillan boys’ volleyball team lost a tough match to WPIAL Class AAA Section 1 rival Peters Township Indians on Tuesday night 3-2. The Big Macs dropped the first two games before storming back to even the match with wins of 25-8 and 25-11 in the third and fourth games. Unfortunately for Canon-McMillan (3-5, 1-4), the Indians managed to steal the deciding fifth game 11-15 to finally seal up the match.

Senior Jace MacDonald led the Big Macs with 19 points, 11 kills, and two blocks, while teammate Quarry Trest added 10 kills and four blocks. Also contributing for Canon-McMillan were Robbie Hall with 25 points and seven kills, and Tony Bevec with 18 service points and 17 assists.

The Big Macs also fell in junior varsity action, as the Indians won both games 21-25 and 23-25. John Birch had nine digs and six kills for Canon-McMillan, while teammates Steve Strosko (five kills) and Andy Miller (11 aces) also contributed.

Both Big Macs teams will be back on the court tomorrow, when Canon-McMillan played host to Upper St. Clair. The JV is slated to start the evening off at 6 p.m., with the varsity to follow.
