Blotter: Man Jailed for DUI and Disorderly Conduct, Theft Reported

A man listing a Canonsburg address was charged with two counts of driving under the influence, disorderly conduct and driving without a license by Cecil Township police Saturday following a vehicle crash late Friday.

Police said officers were dispatched to 274 Muse-Bishop Road, where they encountered James Hookey standing behind a wrecked Chevy Colorado truck.

That’s when officers said Hookey stated, “I did it. I took the vehicle and I’m drunk.”

Police said he had allegedly taken the vehicle without permission from Brianna McMasters of Canonsburg—information the woman confirmed to officers.

After failing field sobriety tests, officers transported Hookey to the North Stabane Township Police Department for a breath test. It showed Hookey had a blood-alcohol content of .147 percent—an amount over the state’s legal limit.

Police said the disorderly conduct charge was filed because Hookey allegedly punched a man in they eye at McMaster’s residence when he attempted to prevent him from taking the keys and truck.

Hookey also told officers that he was on parole in Ohio.

He was arraigned Saturday before district Judge Gary Havelka, who remanded him to the Washington County Jail on $2,500 bond, according to online court records.

Theft Reported

Brad Iskes of Ryan Homes reported a theft at a new construction site located at 114 Maple Ridge Court Tuesday morning.

He told Cecil Township police that someone had stolen cabinets from the home valued at $3,000. Iskes said he believed that the cabinets were stolen sometime overnight Monday.
