With Halloween here, I thought this may be an interesting topic to research into. Now, I'm not going to be the one to say whether I do or not. As the researcher and journalist for this piece, I want to be impartial. But, from some here says and research I have done; it has been believed that there are some ghosts/ hauntings around the area. I am now going to list out what I have researched
SUBWAY SHOP (Canonsburg, Washington County) This sandwich shop was supposedly built over the site of an old nursing home. It's reportedly haunted by a ghost that the help nicknamed Fred. His image shows on the security camera although he can't be seen by human eyes. He also likes to whisper the worker's name in their ear and swing the doors. We can't find any info other than the shop is located on East Pike Street.
MONTOUR TRAIL (Peters Twp., Washington County) There are reports of strange noises, a feeling of being followed on the trail, unexplained lights, & a tunnel that rocks fall on even though it's completely paved on top. There was said to be a train wreck around the turn of the century where the Montour Trail is now located (The trail follows the old Montour RR line). It's haunted by a little girl in a white dress that follows hikers and a small apparition that has green eyes and one white hand.

ROLLING HILLS COUNTRY CLUB (McMurray, Washington County) The clubhouse is allegedly built over the original basement of an old farmhouse that was on the property, the same farmhouse that a man hung himself in. The spirit was exorcised years ago, but not entirely successfully. There are still sightings of the little man, accompanied by weird noises. We can't find any background on the club or its' buildings.
There is also a chapter in the book, Ghosts of Southwestern Pennsylvania, called "Shades of Death Road" that deals with a rural tree-lined road in Avella that has been notoriously noted to have a frightening reputation. One of the ghosts were said that of a young man who died in a tragic car accident. Some say he lost control of the vehicle while traveling on the road, some say it was the ghost of a lynched man that appeared to him and caused him to swerve. There has also been reports of visitors being chased off by other vehicles and mysterious cars.

I have also heard about parts of Cecil/Muse being haunted but unsure of the specifics unfortunately. Again, I don't claim whether any of these things to be true or not-but I'm curious to see if anyone knows about any of these listed or any other areas around here being allegidly haunted.
