Photo/Quote/Song of the Day and Walkers Etiquette 102
walking etiquette adventure and daily photo, quote, and blog of the day

Coming home from my adventure into Washington, I took this picture which was taken along Pike St. in Canonsburg. I have lived in Canonsburg since I was in 8th grade, so like 11 years now? If you look at the top of the light post, there's music notes encircling it. I have never noticed that before. Actress, Drew Barrymore, once said, “If you don't take risks, you'll have a wasted soul." This brings me to Walkers Etiquette 102.
1. Adventures can be time well wasted: If you are going to be going out to get a bunch of groceries, I don't take recommend walking and bussing it everywhere. Carrying a bunch of thing only weighs you down when you're getting around by foot and takes up way too much room on the bus. However, yesterday was a humbling experience and I had to share.
On my day off, I decided to take the Freedom Line bus up into Wal-Mart area to get a little shopping done. Now, most of you know, I've written a lot about how horrible public transportation around this area, although there are still things I would like to see happen, it has gotten a little bit better. However, having a car would make things a little more bearable.

After realizing I had forgotten a couple things and wanting to go up in the Target area anyway, I didn't have enough bus fare to get over there. My friend knew a 'short' cut. All we had to was cross Route 19 and treck over. Although, the last part of how we got there made my bad ankle want to give out! I was hesitant about getting across Route 19 at first, but I figured, hey, I've crossed what is notoriously known as 'McKnightmare Road" in the North Hills while I was in school; this should be a cake walk, right?
So, after a long day of shopping and trecking around Washington, I finally get back to Canonsburg around 5:00pm. I grab a drink at Rite Aid and start walking down Pike Street. Looking up at the names of the sponsoring flags on the light post, I notice something, music notes! It made me realize something.

Someone asked me once, 'How do you take such good pictures?' I told her I walk everywhere. Something I've realized doing all the walking I do is that you pay attention to your surroundings a lot more. You notice how something ankles really well, or how cute the puppy is walking down the street with its owner, or a music note on a light pole, or a funky sign in a really bizarre location. It's humbled me and made me appreciate life in a different way.
Today's song is, 'Time to Move On,' by Tom Petty.
Lyrics:
It's time to move on, time to get going
What lies ahead, I have no way of knowing
But under my feet, bad grass is growing
It's time to move on, it's time to get going
Broken skyline, movin' through the airport
She's an honest defector
Conscientious objector
Now her own protector
Broken skyline, which way to love land
Which way to something better
Which way to forgiveness
Which way do I go
It's time to move on, time to get going
What lies ahead, I have no way of knowing
But under my feet, bad grass is growing
It's time to move on, it's time to get going
Sometime later, getting the words wrong
Wasting the meaning and losing the rhyme
Nauseous adrenalin
Like braking up a dogfight
Like a deer in the headlights
Frozen in real time
I'm losing my mind
It's time to move on, time to get going
What lies ahead, I have no way of knowing
But under my feet, bad grass is growing
It's time to move on, it's time to get going
