Quote and a Thought

Quote from Tao Te Ching Daily

"You can make mistake after mistake and you can keep going back and you can keep doing life and it is OK." - Amy Putkonin"

From Tao Te Ching Daily

Although it isn't the original intent of the quote (I recommend reading thisexcellent post to see the original context - I agree with her), this quote is also true when it comes to lifestyle changes like eating better, exercising more, quitting smoking...any change of habits or thought patterns.

Few of us can make profound "cold turkey" changes. It is a process. It takes time to grow. It takes time and effort to make a lasting change.

That is one of the key differences between the holistic health mindset and our modern American attitudes toward health and healing. In holistic health, sometimes there is trial and error, three steps forward and one step back. Sometimes the natural way will trigger a bit of a 'healing crisis' where things get worse before they get better. Natural healing isn't fast, and seldom easy - but consider what you get in return. Healing the body is needed, and good, and for some things modern medicine is best. Other times we need something less tangible but deeper, stronger, more permenant...sometimes the emotions and soul need to be engaged in the process of healing...or changing a life...or transitioning beyone one.

Ms. Putkonin touches on a very emotional, difficult subject. It is pretty trivial to apply it to something as mundane as dieting, and I can't improve on what she's said in her post, so I'll step aside, and let you explore the link above, and form your own opinion.

Best Wishes to everyone
