A lot of people consider this a break-up song; which it is. However, after doing a little research online, I read that the lyric "I'm still alive but I'm barely breathing" is about heartbreak and this line refers to a time during the making of this album in which Danny O'Donoghue (the lead singer and songwriter) and his friend/ guitarist Mark Sheehan were suffering a hard time after the death of their parents, hence the "barely breathing"part as marks' mother was sick for a very long time before. This song came out in 2008 and hit number one in US Adult Pop and Conemporary song lists.
