Because Troop B Camp Cadet is currently accepting applications for its 2012 camp, which is scheduled for July 15 through July 21.
Camp Cadet is a free, weeklong summer camp for boys and girls ages 12-14 from Allegheny, Fayette, Greene, Washington, and a portion of Westmoreland counties.

This year’s Camp Cadet is scheduled at the Linsly Outdoor Center adjacent to Raccoon State Park in Beaver County.
Troopers, local police officers and many other volunteers staff the camp, where the goal is to introduce participants to the diverse criminal justice system and establish a positive relationship with law enforcement personnel.

At Camp Cadet, the structure is similar to training at the state police academy.
All participants who attend camp are addressed as “cadet” and are required to participate in all scheduled events.
The camp focuses on discipline, self-esteem, teamwork, drug and alcohol education, violence prevention and many other issues facing today’s youth.
