The Frank Sarris Public Library has a series of programs coming up for teens, and we don't want you - or them - to miss it! In case you didn't spot this information on the website's calendar, I'll summarize here...
We are currently offering free College Prep Classes for "rising" High School Juniors and Seniors, and these will be taught by staff members from Huntington Learning Centers, Inc. Coming up over the next two weeks are overviews of the SAT and the ACT tests. Interested students will meet on Tuesday and Thursday (July 9, 11, 16 and 18) either from 4:00 - 5:30 (for the ACT) or from 6:00 - 7:30 (for the SAT).
The weeks to follow are a bit different...The first of the two programs running is, let's say, more "exclusive" than the previous offerings. An Essay Workshop will be open to those starting the senior year this fall and will meet in the computer lab on Tuesdays from 6:30 - 7:30. Of course, in order to get feedback, a student must submit a written essay to the library no later than Friday, July 26th.
The second program available is brought to you by Toastmasters International. A representative will be on-hand in the computer lab on Thursdays (6:00 - 8:00) to assist with preparing for the (admission) interview and other public speaking skills.
Caution: Space is limited, so be sure to register A.S.A.P. If you do so and are unable to make it, please call to let us know!
