Hearings Set for Former Fire Chief Charged with DUI

Donald Hindman, former Lawrence Volunteer Fire Department chief, is set to appear before district Judge Valarie Costanzo at 6:15 p.m. May 16, online court records indicate.

charged Hindman, 49, with one count of DUI after officers "noticed his speech was slurred and his eyes were bloodshot” while he was responding to a call on Filkorn Road at the request of Southbridge EMS early Sunday.

He was driving a 2002 Chevy Silverado with municipal plates when he was pulled over by officers while driving away from the scene.

Police said Hindman failed field sobriety tests and was transported to the station, where a breath test showed a .253 blood alcohol content.

Hindman also is scheduled to appear before district Judge Jay Weller at 5 p.m. April 4 for a preliminary hearing related to DUI and careless driving charges filed by North Strabane police Jan. 30, online court records show.
