UPDATED: Jury Concurs Inmate Died as a Result of Drugs, Alcohol
In its verdict, the jury said it had questions on whether the policies and procedures at the Washington County Jail had been followed.

A jury on Friday agreed with the Washington County Coroner's Office after an inquest Friday: That the death of a Washington County Jail inmate last year was caused by a combination of drugs and alcohol.
But it also said it had questions about whether or not the policies and procedures were followed at the Washington County Jail.
Whether or not there was criminality involved is now in the hands of the Washington County District Attorney's Office, according to Deputy Coroner Steve Toprani.

Toprani conducted the inquest because Washington County Coroner Tim Warco said he knew the inmate, Corey Adams, personally, and recused himself.
Another inmate had discovered Adams, 35, of Rifgon Drive, unresponsive in a bunk in the work-release area of the correctional facility at 11:45 a.m., Washington County Coroner Tim Warco testified.

He was in jail for his third driving-under-the influence offense.
Warco and a pathologist testified that Adams died from a combined overdose of alcohol and oxymorphone, a prescription opiate. Police said it is believed that another inmate gave Adams the drug.
While a police lieutenant testified that other inmates noted that Adams was intoxicated, a processing officer for the jail testified that he noted no signs of drug or alcohol use.
