Make a difference and Host an exchange student!

This coming school year this area will host 8 exchange students from around the globe. In late August students from Morocco, Mali, Ukraine, Brazil, Thailand and Germany will converge with the American High School system for a culture exchange experience that translates into creating life changing opportunities for the successor generation. It all begins by breaking culture barriers and the formation of lifelong relationships.

Since 1947, the Council on International Educational Exchange, has been in pursuit of its mission, "to help people gain understanding, acquire knowledge, and develop skills for living in a globally interdependent and culturally diverse world."

The CIEE USA High School program, is designated by the U.S. Department of State as an administrator of severalGrant Programs for students who have been selected to participate in the prestigious Congress-Bundestag scholarship (CBYX), Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX), Youth Exchange and Study (YES), and American Serbia and Montenegro Youth Leadership Exchange (A-SMYLE).

International students participating in the exchange are between 15 and 18 years of age, have studied English for a minimum of three years, have their own medical insurance & spending money, and have undergone a thorough personal screening and interview process. Once here, cultural immersion allows students to gain a personal understanding of the “American way of life.” Attending American high schools, participating in school and community-run clubs, and living with a host family give students unique firsthand access to American culture and offers them the opportunity to be ambassadors of their culture in American communities. Many students attain fluency in English by the end of the program. Most importantly, they will have built American relationships that will last forever.

The CIEE USA High School program is looking for host family for Halima from Morocco.  To participate or to request more information on this rewarding intercultural experience please contact     Pam Hoffman - CIEE Local Coordinator : Tel: 412-506-7422 Email: pzab@comcast.net                           For more information please visit http://www.ciee.org/highschool/host-families/benefits.html
