North Strabane Fire Department Hosting Open House Saturday
The event is being held in conjunction with National Fire Prevention Month.

As part of National Fire Prevention Month, the North Strabane Fire Department is hosting an open house from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
Adults and kids alike are invited to take part in the festivities, which include demonstrationsāsuch as one of a second-floor evacuation, and one that will teach participants pet CPR.
Visitors can also peruse the departmentās various pieces of equipment and vehicles.

āWeāll also have two cars to cut up,ā North Strabane fire fighter Kim Bonifield said, referring to a demonstration of a vehicle rescue.
Those who attend will also learn how to properly use a fire extinguisherāsomething Bonifield said isnāt common knowledge.

āPeople think youāre supposed to spray it at the fire and it will go out and it doesnāt,ā she said. āYou have to spray it on whatās actually on fire.ā
There will also be activities for the kids, including visits from mascots such as Kingās Restaurantās Frownie, and a demonstration instructing youngsters on how to use a fire hose.
The fire safety house will also be set up to help teach kids to properly navigate and exit their homes when they are filled with smoke.
Refreshments will be served.
The event is being held in conjunction with National Fire Safety Month.
