Obituary: Catherine L. Mikus Benic

Catherine L. Mikus Benic, 92, of Houston, died Monday, June 25, 2012 in Amber Woods at Harmarvillage.

She was born Oct. 20, 1919 in Meadowlands, a daughter of John and Anna Jurina Benic.

She was a charter member of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church and member of the Christian Mothers and the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association.

Surviving are two sons, Thomas Benic of Pittsburgh, and Patrick Benic of Washington, D.C.; one brother, John Mikus of Cleveland; two sisters, Mary Nogay of Harrisburg, and Margaret Germovsek of Cleveland; three grandchildren, Matthew Benic, Shanon Benic, and Katherine Benic; and several nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Peter T. Benic, died June 18, 2001. Also deceased are two sisters—Ann Grudi and Barbara Zadik.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the at 30 E. College St. in .

Departing prayers will be at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. at our Lady of Miraculous Medal Church in Meadowlands. Interment will follow in the St. Patrick Cemetery in Canonsburg.
