Obituary: Irene Vivian Moore Carter

January 30, 1925 - December 12, 2011

Irene Vivian Moore Carter, 86 years old of Canonsburg, died Monday, December 12, 2011 in Townview Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was born January 30, 1925 in Erie Mine, Burgettstown, daughter of the late Verner and  Alice Ayres Moore . 

Irene graduated from Hickory High School in 1944 and married Walter Carter, September 4, 1948 in Hickory U.P. Church.

She was a member of Venice Presbyterian Church. She was a homemaker who enjoyed talking to friends, reading her Bible, writing cards and letters, and spending time with family. 

Surviving are two sons, Raymond I. (Deborah) Carter of Cecil, and John K. (Gretchen) Carter of Gilmore, Cecil Twp., a daughter, Linda (Frank) Wozniak of Canonsburg, daughter-in-law, Kathy (Gary) Vuchinich of Gladden, six grandchildren, Greg (Amber) Carter of Langloth, Philip (Brandi) Carter of Canonsburg, Alison (Kevin) McGowan of Houston,  Damian Carter of McDonald, Sara (Jeff) Young of Bridgeville, Ashley (Alan 'Butch') Zombeck of Muse, nine great grandchildren, three sisters, Ruth Pakisz of Burgettstown, Norma Virginia (Carl) McKinney of Washington, Nancy (Bernie) Vizyak of Weirton, W.VA., three brothers, Richard (Rita) Moore of Joffre, Ralph Moore of Imperial, and James Moore of Washington.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Walter I. Carter, Jr. in 1993, son, Bruce A. Carter in 1988, and infant son David, a brother Eugene Moore, and a sister, Helen Strike. 

Friends will be received 2-4 & 6-8 P.M., Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at the Coleman-Taylor Funeral Services, 3378 Millers Run Road (Rt.50) Cecil, where  service will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 11:00 AM with Reverend Craig Kephart officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Hickory. 

Contributions may be made to the Venice Presbyterian Church, 3694 Millers Run Road, McDonald, PA 15057.
