Obituary: Joan “Jenny” Mirisciotta DiCio

Joan “Jenny” Mirisciotta DiCio, 95, of McMurray, formerly of , died Friday, Dec. 9, 2011 in her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Aug. 26. 1916 in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late Gaetano and Amelia Mastroianni Mirischiotta.

Jenny was very artistic and creative and loved being with her family. She was a lifelong Canonsburg-area resident and was a member of Saint Patrick Parish and South Pittsburgh Choral Group.

On June 2, 1937, she married Frank DeCio, who died Aug. 19, 1968.

Surviving are one daughter, Claudine Femiani, who whom she made her home for the past six years; two sons, Dan (Mary Ann) DiCio and Frank DiCio, all of Canonsburg; one sister, Elizabeth DeBlander of the sate of California; five grandchildren, Joseph (Janet) and Christopher Femiani, all of McMurray, Claudine (Randy) O’Connell of Venetia, Daniel DiCio of Bridgeville, and David (Tammy) DiCio of McMurray; 10 great grandchildren, Julianne and Marco Femiani, Biana and Shane O’Connell, Chelsie, David Jr., Nicholas and Dominic DiCio, Randi and Anne Marchezak and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Samuel and Frank Mirisciotta, and one sister, Caroline Guzell.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the Sollon Funeral Home at 30 E. Pike St. in Canonsburg. Departing prayers at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am. In Saint Patrick Church. Interment will follow in Saint Patrick Cemetery in Canonsburg.
