Obituary: Loretta Jean Barbish

Loretta Jean Krenn Barbish, 79, of , died Friday, Dec. 30, 2011, in her home.

She was born Aug. 24, 1932 in Cecil Township, a daughter of Henry and Josephone Johnen Krenn.

Mrs. Barbish was a lifelong area resident, a Presybeterian and member of SNPJ Lodge 139 of Strabane.

She had worked for Sewickley Valley Hospital, RCA, J.C. Penny of Washington and Kaufmann’s of South Hills, and was a homemaker.

Mrs. Barbish enjoyed crafts, quilting, reading, puzzles and communicating with family and friends.

On Jan. 2, 1955 she married Frank Barbish Jr., who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Carol Harvey (Barry) of Washington, and Joan Gaspersic (Lawrence) of Coraopolis; two grandchildren, Ryan Harvey and Joi Alrutz (Douglas); one great-grandchild, Hailey Alrutz; and several nieces and nephews.

She was the last of her immediate family. Deceased are two sisters, Elida K. Vance and Doris McNinch.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Sollon Funeral Home, where services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Craig Kephart, pastor at Venice Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Cecil.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to ALS Association of Western Pennsylvania, 416 Lincoln Ave. Pittsburgh; or SNPA Scholarship Fund.
