Obituary: Lorraine Patrene

Lorraine Patrene, 92, died peacefully on Tuesday, June 26, 2012.

She was born in Canonsburg on Nov. 5, 1919, a daughter of Lloyd Roberts and Mary Lis. After her mother’s death, she was raised by her beloved late uncle and aunt, Anthony and Antonina O’Sinski.

On April 20, 1941, she married the love of her life, Maurice Patrene, who died Sept. 1, 1996.

Mrs. Patrene was employed by the RCA, and later stayed home to care for her children.

Surviving are a son, Kenneth Patrene of Pittsburgh; a daughter, Mary Maslanik (John) who reside in Canonsburg; two grandchildren, Love Patrene of Arizona and Michael Maslanik (Samantha) of Canandaigua, NY. She was also blessed with a beautiful great-granddaughter that she had the pleasure of seeing and holding, Lisa Maslanik. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Patrene was also blessed to have had Shirley George as her caregiver.

Deceased are a son, Maurice Damien, and three sisters: Francis Danley, Mary Ann Gayarski and Bernadine Licht.

Mrs. Patrene was dearly loved by all of those who had the pleasure of knowing her. As a young girl she was given the nickname Sunshine. That name fit her perfectly. She spread sunshine wherever she went. She will be missed by her family and friends. Their lives have been so much richer because of her.

Friends will be received from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the at 30 E. Pike St. in Canonsburg.

Departing prayers will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church in Muse. Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery in McMurray.
