Obituary: Marcie Pietras

Marcella "Marcie" L. Pietras, 31, formerly of Canonsburg, died Wednesday, June 27, 2012, in her home in Clayton, NC.

She was born Feb. 27, 1981 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of Robert E. "Bo" and Joan Hampton Dristas. Marcie was raised in and was a 1999 graduate of .

She graduated from Mercyhurst University with a bachelor's degree in family ecology. Marcie worked for various agencies in Erie and North Carolina as a case manager and advocate for the disabled. She was passionate and had a love for all of her "families" and was a fighter for those who could not speak for themselves. She was greatly loved, and will be truly missed.

Marcie loved her pets, enjoyed gardening, kick boxing and loved horses.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, David M. Pietras of Erie, whom she married on May 7, 2010; a brother, Stephen W. Dristas of Imperial; her father-in-law Michael F. Pietras and his wife, Laurie Jean Pietras; her grandmother, Virginia Hampton; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, William Hampton; and her paternal grandparents, William Dristas and Rita Dristas.

Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the ., 30 East College St., Canonsburg. Departing prayers will be held in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Friday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in , Canonsburg. Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray.
