Obituary: Theodore F. Lazorchak

Theodore F. Lazorchak, 88, of Strabane, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011 at Allegheny General Hospital due to complications of a fall.

He was born on May 22, 1923 in , the son of the late Michael and Anna Senay Lazorchak.

Mr. Lazorchak was a graduate of Canonsburg High School (class of 1941). After graduation he enlisted with the U.S. Navy, where he completed naval radio training school. During his time of service, he received the WWII Victory Medal, American Area Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

After his honorable discharge, he received an A.B. in history from the University of Michigan in 1952 and a J.D. of law from the University of Notre Dave in 1955.

Mr. Lazorchak was a longtime member of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, where he served for 29 years as a trustee.

Mr. Lazorchak retired after 29 years with Allstate Insurance as a senior bodily injury claims adjuster.

On May 21, 1960 he married his beloved wife, Helen A. Zubenko, who survives.

Also surviving are a daughter Leah (David) Stockman of Canonsburg, and grandson Nathan Stockman.

Deceased also are two sisters, Anna Lazor and Julia Koman; and four brothers, Harry, William, Michael and Paul (Jack) Lazorchak.

Friends are welcome from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, 601 Boone Ave. in Canonsburg, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Joseph Oleynik officiating.

Parastas service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday in the church.

Interment will follow in Oak Spring Cemetery in Canonsburg. Full military rites will be accorded by the combined honor guard VFW Post 191 of Canonsburg and American Legion Post 902 of Houston.
