
Robert W. Benson, 48, of Eighty Four and Canonsburg, died Sunday Feb. 27 in Washington Hospital Emergency Room after a lengthy illness.
He was born April 1, 1962, in Washington, a son of Regina Karpy Benson of Eighty Four and the late Hubert W. "Bert" Benson.
Mr. Benson was a lifelong resident of Eighty Four and Canonsburg, and graduated from Canon-McMillan School District in 1980. He was a purchasing agent for Eighty Four Mining at Enlow Mine from 1993-1997.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Canonsburg. Mr. Benson loved his son, Trevor, music and playing guitar.
Surviving in addition to his mother are one son, Trevor Benson, and Trevor's mother, Valerie Benson -- both of Washington. He is also survived by one brother, William B. "Bill" Benson of Eighty Four; one sister, Jennifer Benson of Burgettstown; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
