Today's Tarot: Silence and Inaction

A wise woman knows what she doesn't know. A wise woman knows when the best thing to do is nothing.

In the big picture of it all, some psychics are honest, some are not. The best psychics I know only want to "see all & tell all" out of a deep impulse to help people. While we all wish it were true, absolute predictions are not possible.

"Difficult to see. Always in motion is the future...Decide you must, how to serve them best." Yoda, from "Star Wars, Episode IV"

Even if predictions were possible, I don't think it is entirely ethical to plant one person's vision of the future into someone else's thinking. In my opinion (and in my readings) the goal is to understand the current situation, and then look for a better way forward. That's it. As I see it, GOOD tarot readings should point the way to creating a better future for yourself through making better choices...not giving a rote set predictions about a future that may or may not ever happen.

This kind of reading is more advanced, because it asks more of both the psychic and the sitter (the person getting the reading). It is a joint effort, where the psychic and the sitter work together to inspire, empower, and find a better way forward. It's harder work but has better results in the end.

When you look at it that way, the best psychic tarot readings are the ones that are silent about the future.

Psychic readings are not the right thing for all situations. There are many situations where a reading just isn't appropriate, no matter how well it is done. A truly good psychic knows when to say NO, when NOT to do a reading at all. Sometimes the best action is inaction.

Just like the healing professions, a psychic's goal should be to do no harm. Well chosen silence and inaction can be more important to a sitter's well being than anything we say or do.
