I've looked up the exact law for PA and there are some exceptions: T. 18 Pa.C.S.A., Pt. II, Art. F, Ch. 57, § 5742.b.6.ii "A person or entity may divulge the contents of a communication to a law enforcement agency, if the contents appear to pertain to the commission of a crime." I don't understand why this exception didn't pertain to this case.
