Attorneys from the Allegheny County Bar Foundation’s Pro Bono Center 
will be available for thirty-minute appointments to provide free legal

Free Legal Advice Clinic with the Allegheny County Bar Foundation’s Pro Bono Center

On April 26, 1986, an explosion shook the Chernobyl nuclear power 
plant near Pripyat, Ukraine. Since that moment, the lasting effects of 
the disaster have defined existence in the region, with most people 
evacuating and many thousands sickened by the radiation of the worst 
nuclear disaster to date.&nbsp;
Today, we gather for a day of commemoration marking the fortieth 
anniversary of this tragedy. Join us for poetry, art, dance, stories 
from affected individuals, and an expert panel discussion on the four 
decades since.

Throughout the event, attendees are invited to view photographs of 
the Chernobyl area by Michael Haritan accompanied by original poetry 
written by students at Carlow University; explore food and craft 
offerings from vendors; and construct a LEGO scale model of Chernobyl’s 
Reactor #4 (a completed set of the model will go to one raffle winner).

Bring your family and friends to the Purcellville Music and Arts Festival on Saturday, April 25 from noon to 7 p.m. rain or shine. This free, family-friendly event will be held at Fireman’s Field Park and inside the Bush Tabernacle Skating Rink at 250 South Nursery Avenue.

Enjoy a full day of live music and performances across multiple stages, along with an art exhibit, games, chalk art, and a variety of interactive activities. Browse offerings from local vendors featuring handcrafted goods, food, beverages, and more. There will be fun for all ages, including face painting, glitter tattoos, sidewalk chalk art, and t-shirt or tote bag decorating. Local non-profits will also be on-site sharing information and resources. Special activities will highlight and celebrate the 250th anniversary of America’s independence. 
Inside the Bush Tabernacle Skating Rink—transformed into the Art Hall—you’ll find more than 30 works of art, live performances, art demonstrations, and hands-on activities including quilt square decorating and an Instrument Petting Zoo. Be sure to pick up a festival scavenger hunt booklet and complete it for a chance to win a prize!

The “Dare 2B Tick Aware” program aims to improve the use of prevention strategies, reduce tick bites, and improve early diagnosis, using the most current research available to standardize prevention messages across the state.We’ll explore Pennsylvania tick statistics; how to identify different kinds of ticks; where ticks live; how they behave; Lyme and other tick-borne diseases; recognizing the early symptoms of these diseases; how to prevent tick bites; and what to do if you’re bitten by a tick.<a href="https://acfree.librarycalendar.com/event/pa-lyme-resource-network-presents-dare-2b-tick-aware-6361" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Registration is appreciated, but walk-ins are welcome. She never saw a tick on her or a bullseye rash, nor did she feel a tick bite. When she first noticed something was wrong, she went from doctor to doctor to no avail, until she was finally diagnosed with chronic Lyme and Anaplasmosis, almost two years after her initial symptoms. She is now in her fourth year of trying to recover and longs for the day when she can be as active and fit as she once was. Hardly a day goes by that she does not think about ticks. Janine has spent a lot of time learning about ticks and tick-borne illnesses. One of the things she learned is there are a lot of misconceptions out there regarding ticks and Lyme disease. She decided getting certificated by PA Lyme to go out and talk about ticks, their habitat and prevention would be a good thing to do. It is Janine’s hope that no one suffers like herself and other chronic Lyme patients, especially in her home state of Pennsylvania where there are a great deal of ticks and Lyme disease is on the rise.

The Andrew Carnegie Free Library &amp; Music Hall presents a public education program on reforming Pennsylvania’s redistricting process. <a href="https://www.fairdistrictspa.com/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Fair Districts PA</a> speakers Kate Ellison and Sarah Stulga will explain PA’s current redistricting process, demonstrate how it has undermined democracy, and then offer a solution to the problem. Kate and Sarah will also discuss legislation, roadblocks in Harrisburg and Fair Districts PA’s strategy going forward.
