Students Get Inside Look at Government in Action in the City of Coatesville
The City of Coatesville welcomes students from the Chester County Chamber Foundation's Youth Leadership Program
Coatesville City Manager James Logan recently hosted dozens of students from the Chester County Chamber Foundation’s Youth Leadership Program during a full day of exploring municipal government in action at Coatesville City Hall.
Logan welcomed students to the February 11th program, which provided inspirational presentations on the career journeys and responsibilities of public servants including Anthony Luker, Southeast Regional Director, Office of Governor Josh Shapiro and State Representative Dan Williams. The students participated in a mock city council meeting with Coatesville City Council President Linda Lavender Norris and Vice President Carmen Green. They also heard from Coatesville Fire Chief Peter Huf, Coatesville Police Lieutenant Rodger Ollis, Jr. and Coatesville Assistant City Manager Roberta Cosentino. District Court Judge Gregory Hines invited students into his courtroom to share his career with them before adjourning the meeting with a pound of his gavel.
Sponsored by Pennsylvania American Water, the mission of the Chester County Chamber Foundation's Youth Leadership Program is to create exceptional opportunities for all students in Chester County to prepare them for future careers and to groom our next generation of community and business leaders. The program provides 10th, 11th and 12th grade students with opportunities to explore career paths and jobs of the future, learn leadership skills, prepare for and practice interviewing skills, as well as interact with community, business leaders and students from across the region.
