CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, PA — Cranberry will mark America’s 250th birthday with a Star-Spangled Summer Fest at the Cranberry Town Square Market.

The event will occur from 3p.m.- 7 p.m. on Friday. The themed market will bring Independence Day decorations and several family-focused activities to the regular weekly event.

The event will open with the singing of the National Anthem. The first 300 kids in attendance will receive a free American flag. Members of the Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company also will be at the market with the company’s 1928 Pirsch fire engine.

Visitors will also have a chance to take a photo with CT, the township water park’s mascot. Ice cream will be offered from Cranberry Dairy Queen. Those activities are being added to the market’s standard lineup of vendors, food trucks, a cash bar, live music and other attractions.

The Cranberry Town Square Market is a collaboration between the township and the Pittsburgh North Regional Chamber. The market features farm-fresh produce, homemade crafts and goods, and a wide selection of artisanal items.

The June 26 event is built around a patriotic theme tied to the nation’s semiquincentennial celebration. The added attractions are aimed at giving families and other visitors more to do while they shop and spend time at the market.

The market’s usual mix of food, shopping and entertainment is expected to remain in place during the themed event. That means attendees can still browse produce and handmade goods while also taking part in the holiday-focused activities planned for the afternoon.
