CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, PA — Township supervisors have granted the Meijer store planned for Franklin Road and Route 228 a liquor license.
The board voted to approve an inter-municipal liquor license transfer to Meijer. It formerly was owned by Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza Of Cranberry LLC.
Henderson Crossing, 45-acre mixed use development in the northeast corner of Route 228 and Franklin Road near North Catholic High School.
The site will contain multiple apartment buildings and restaurants and be anchored by the 159,000 square-foot Meijer superstore.
A Forbes profile oft the chain states that Meijer is a family-owned grocery chain operating in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky and Wisconsin. Its supercenter stores offer groceries but also have departments such as fashion, automotive, home decor, health and beauty care, pharmacy, electronics and banking.
Meanwhile, Wegmans Food Markets is breaking ground on its first store in the Pittsburgh area on Thursday. A planned opening date is set for fall 2027.
The 115,000 square foot Wegmans is being built on a 12-acre site on Cool Springs Drive next to the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex.
