Butler Group Adds Car Show to Alternative Energy Fair
Some of the Latest Electric Cars on Display
Marcellus Outreach Butler (MOB) a grassroots group from Butler County dedicated to educating the public to the health and safety perils of unconventional natural gas development is adding yet another facet to their multi-pronged approach. MOB is not only sponsoring the third annual Fossil-free Energy Fair on September 12, proclaiming the economic and climate benefits of alternate forms of energy, they are incorporating an electric car show and cruise. The show is part of the National Drive Electric Week, sponsored nationally by the Sierra Club and Nissan among others.
The theme of this year’s Fair is “Driving to a New Energy Future,” and will feature an Electric car cruise whereby owners of any type of an all-electric or plug-in electric vehicle can show their cars and offer rides and drives to show goers. Manufactures such as Tesla will be on hand displaying their latest offerings.
Gregg Winks, from SUNWPA, will make a presentation on the ins and outs of solarizing a home or business. Another presentation is a DIY primer on taking advantage of the PA Power choice program to sign-up for renewable energy for home or business.

The short documentary series “Sustainability Pioneers” will be screened showing people taking bold steps to address climate crisis. The series, by documentary filmmaker Kirsi Jansa was funded in part by the Heinz Endowment.
The Fair, held outdoors in the lower lot at Kohl’s store in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania and will go on rain or shine. Zero Fossil, a portable power provider, will supply solar generated power for the event. Free snow cones made with solar power will be a special feature.

Vendors, such as solar installers, energy choice suppliers and others will be on hand to talk about and display their products. Grassroots, and political groups will be among other exhibitors. The Fair kicks off at 11:00 AM and runs until 5:00 PM. Admission is free. Contact: louhancherick@gmail.com
