Congressional Redistricting Hearing Today in Cranberry

Boundaries of congressional and legislative districts to be discussed as part of joint series of hearings.

There will be a hearing on congressional redistricting from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the

Hosted by Rep. Daryl Metcalfe, R-Cranberry, who is House State Government Committee Majority Chariman;  and Senate State Government Chairman Sen. Chuck McIhinney, R-Bucks, the meeting is one in a series of joint statewide hearings to receive testimony and collect public input on congressional redistricting after the U.S. Census.

Redistricting is a state legislative process that every 10 years redraws the boundaries of congressional and legislative districts to meet the constitutional requirement of one person, one vote.

In Pennsylvania, the General Assembly passes congressional redistricting, and the governor must approve it..

The first public hearing was May 12 in Philadelphia. There will be a hearing Tuesday in Harrisburg.
