Cranberry Again Gets Banner Community Designation
The township is again honored by neighboring Allegheny County. Find out why here.

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, PA - Cranberry is in Butler County, not Allegheny County directly to the south. Yet the township still has been designated as a 2018 Banner Community by Allegheny County and the Allegheny League of Municipalities.
Since 2012, the banner program recognizes local municipalities that are committed to professional development, prudent fiscal management, transparency, accountability and proactive communications, according to the award announcement from Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald’s office.
Cranberry has been recognized each year since the program’s inception. However, until last year, when Butler Township first earned its banner recognition, Cranberry had been the only community outside of Allegheny County to be so honored.
“Local government is considered by many to be the most important form of government because of its direct impact on the daily lives of residents,” Fitzgerald said. “The Banner Community Program designation is a public recognition of the efforts that these government officials take on behalf of their residents and businesses each day.”
This year, 56 municipalities were designated banner communities.
