Cranberry To Hold Meeting On Water Safety Measures
Township officials are concerned about the high number of water rescues at the Cranberry Community Waterpark.

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, PA - The township will continue its renewed emphasis on summer water safety by holding a meeting on the topic July 30 at 6 p.m. at the Cranberry Community Waterpark.
Township manager Jerry Andree, along with parks and recreation staffers, will review the safety measures currently in place at the waterpark, as well as new the initiatives being implemented to prevent drownings.
Those initiatives, announced earlier this week, include renaming the 15-minutes each hour formerly designated as "adult swim" as "safety break." The idea is to keep children from becoming exhausted in the pool, which can be deadly. Additionally, the waterpark pool formerly designated as the zero-depth entry or baby pool is now being referred to as the wading pool to distinguish it from the deeper adjacent swimming pool.

The new measures were introduced as a response to lifeguards having to come to the rescue of more than 60 people thus far this year - most of them children.
No reservations are needed to attend the July 30 meeting, which concludes with an hour of free swimming between 7 and 8 p.m. But those interested in attending should RSVP the township at 724-776-4806, extension 1089.
