Cranberry Library Sculpture To Promote $750K Improvement Effort
Your first chance to see the sculpture will be this weekend, but it won't be at the library. Find out here where it will be displayed.

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, PA - Not many library improvement campaigns have their own steel sculptures, but the Cranberry Township Community Chest’s efforts to bring a makerspace ares to the township library does.
The Community Chest hopes to provide $750,000 in improvements to the library, including the makerspace - small workshops outfitted with tools ranging from no-tech to high-tech. They provide ample opportunities for making things in a hands-on environment.
The sculpture, which is six feet tall and shaped like a large light bulb, depicts a child’s hands and an adult’s hand at work in an “idea factory” symbolized by gears and bolts of lightning. The as-yet unnamed work, sculpted by artist Alex Howland of Twisted Iron Fabrications, will be unveiled during Community Days in Community Park this weekend, then be on display in the library’s Mazzoni Reading Garden.

In addition to the makerspace, Community Chest improvements planned for the library include a more reliable checkout system, improved ADA accessibility including automatic sliding doors, environmentally friendly carpeting and upgraded staff areas.
