Cranberry Reviving National Night Out Parade

After being retired for more than a decade, the event returns next month.

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, PA - Does anyone remember Cranberry’s annual National Night Out Parade? It’s been more than a decade since the event along Haine School Road, which included fire companies and emergency service vehicles from throughout the area, was quietly retired.

The retirement is over. The parade, part of a nationwide campaign to strengthen partnerships between neighborhood residents and first responders, is being revived.

The Target store in Cranberry Commons will host this year’s National Night Out in it sparking lot. The event will occur Aug. 7 from 5-8 p.m., with a fire truck parade through the shopping center scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

Participating agencies and activities will include the Humane Society, the Victim Outreach Intervention Center, local police fire and EMS agencies. There will also be the FBI’s on-site child ID kits as well as food, games, face painting, and Cranberry’s Fire Safety House, in addition to raffles for school supplies, backpacks and bikes.

The event is free and open to all area residents.
