Cranberry Seeks 200 Volunteers To Build New Playground

Here's a way to make a positive impact on your community.

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, PA - About 200 volunteers are needed to help build a new playground in North Boundary Park. Could you be one of them?

Construction is scheduled to occur on the $350,000 project on Oct. 4 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Breakfast, lunch and water will be provided, as well gloves and other safety materials for the projects requiring them.

Closed toed-shoes are required. Minors are invited to participate in youth activities but not construction tasks. To sign up for the project, call 724-779-4386 or click on the link.

The work will occur under the direction of Kaboom!, a national organization that has supervised volunteer community-built playground projects throughout the country, including Cranberry's own AE Skatepark in 2005.

  • Oct 2: Prep day, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. 30 volunteers needed.
  • Oct 3: Prep day, 8 a.m. to completion, 15 additional volunteers needed to be on standby.
  • Oct: 4: Build day:

6:30 a.m.: Team leaders arrive
8 a.m.: 200 Volunteers arrive and register
8:30 a.m.: Kick-off ceremony
2:30 p.m. Ribbon-cutting ceremony.
