Five Things You Need to Know This Week

1. The Whole World is Watching: Internet Safety Meetings for SV Parents

Learn more about the safety threats your child faces on the World Wide Web. Chuck Favata, a former teacher and nationally-recognized presenter on cyber safety, will present two Internet safety programs for Seneca Valley parents this week. There will be a meeting for parents of students in kindergarten through sixth grade at 7 tonight at the Haine Middle School cafeteria. There will be a meeting for parents of students in grades seven through 12 Thursday at the senior high school.

2. Behind the Scenes: Manager’s Coffee

Join Jerry Andree, manager of Cranberry Township, and Leslie Pallotta, library director, in the stacks from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday for a free behind-the-scenes look at the Cranberry Public Library. 3. Ash Wednesday

Millions of Christians throughout the world will mark the beginning of Lent on Wednesday. St. Kilian Catholic Church and St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Cranberry, St. Gregory in Zelienople and St. Matthias in Evans City will be among the parishes distributing ashes for Ash Wednesday services.

4. Cranberry Board of Supervisors Meeting

Find out in person what’s going on in township government. Cranberry’s board of supervisors will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday inside council chambers at the Cranberry Township Municipal Center.

5. Oscar Party at the Library

Celebrate Sunday’s Academy Awards with a pre-party at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Cranberry Public Library. Walk the red carpet dressed as your favorite celebrity or don your best evening wear for this glam event. Participants will vote for their favorite nominee (Cranberry Patch liked Brad Pitt in Moneyball) in the various award categories. The even also features prizes and more.
