Costume Contest Highlights Pancake Breakfast

Kids and adults in Halloween costumes can win prizes at an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast fundraiser for the Zelienople Rotary on Oct 25.

Goblins and ghouls can gobble pancakes and other goodies during the Zelienople Rotary Club’s all-you-can-eat fall pancake breakfast on Sunday, Oct. 25, which this year includes a Halloween costume contest for kids and adults alike.

All visitors wearing a costume will have a chance to win prizes. Costumed kids under 8 eat free during the fundraiser, which includes all the pancakes, sausage, fruit, biscuits with gravy, and beverages they can eat. Adults in costume will get $1 off the ticket price. The full price is $7 for adults, $6 for senior citizens and $5 for children under the age of 12.

The breakfast runs 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the American Legion Hall, 308 West New Castle Street.

Proceeds fund Zelienople Rotary projects. The club provides annual scholarships to Seneca Valley seniors and free dictionaries to third-graders. It sends Seneca Valley students to two youth leadership camps each year and sponsors students at the annual World Affairs Council in Pittsburgh. The Zelienople Rotary also sponsors the annual Fourth of July parade, assists local charities like the food cupboard and Meals on Wheels, and builds and maintains projects at the Community Park. Additionally, the club supports the worldwide campaign to eradicate polio spearheaded by Rotary International, the World Health Organization and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
