Mars New Year Celebration Announcement

Plans are going to be announced for the Mars New Year Celebration and "Meet the MARS Challenge!"

On Monday, November 14th, join the Mayor of Mars Borough, Greg Hartung and Missy Gralish, Communications Chairperson of Mars New Year as they announce plans for the Mars New Year celebration and the student competition, “Meet the MARS Challenge!” The Mars New Year Celebration is a collaboration with Mars Borough and NASA, inspired by exploration, innovation and celebration. The festival coincides with the planet Mars' New Year, which occurs every 687 days and celebrates NASA’s future plans to colonize Mars in the year 2033. The announcement will take place at the spaceship located in Downtown Mars, PA at 2:00 p.m.


Students participating in the “Meet the MARS! Challenge” at local schools are being asked to identify a challenge of living on Mars and then solve the identified challenge for a chance to win cash prizes.


This announcement coincides with the release of Ron Howard’s National Geographic TV series entitled “Mars.” Mars is a six-part series that will tell the story of an astronaut crew on the very first human Mars mission in 2033.
