Electric Cars Highlight Festival

Go Green Festival features Electric Car Show & Cruise, Saturday, September 10, 2016, 11:00am-5:00pm. Cranberry (rte 228) Kohl's Lower Lot.

The GO Green Festival, now in it's fourth year, is held Saturday, September 10 in the lower parking lot of Kohl’s Department Store off route 228 in Cranberry Township. The festival celebrates National Drive Electric Week with an Electric Car Show and Cruise. The car cruise is a popular feature where owners of electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle showcase their cars and offer rides to attendees. The show will feature electric cars such as Tesla, BMW i3, Chevy Volt, and Nissan Leaf. They are projected to display their latest in energy efficient cars, and for motorcycle enthusiasts, an electric motorcycle will also be on hand.

Due to recent advancements in car batteries and innovations in the energy management systems of these vehicles, a new line of energy efficient cars are now available. With these most recent advancements, electric cars are a more viable alternative to gas-powered vehicles. They are much quieter than their conventional internal combustion engine counterparts and eliminate exhaust pollutants, greatly reducing air pollution and greenhouse emissions. In addition, electric cars are quicker, require less service, and provide freedom from our dependence on foreign oil reserves and the politics that create its uncertain availability. Also with more charging stations available, owners are enjoying the freedom of driving their electric cars and saving money on "juicing up".

The festival, held outdoors, will go on rain or shine. Zero Fossil, a portable power provider, will supply solar generated power for the event. Free snow cones made by solar energy will be a special feature. Other exhibitors at the GO Green Festival will feature solar panels as well as other home owner products. Grassroots organizations will also be among exhibitors. The festival kicks off at eleven and runs until 5:00 PM. Admission is free, and attendees can register in a drawing for a $100 Kohl's Gift Card. Come join us and bring the kids along to enjoy some fun activities while you immerse yourself in the quiet ride of an electric car. For more information, visit our website: www.GoGreenFestival.com
