Seneca Valley Envirothon Club Cleans Up the Competition
The first-place team will attend a state-level competition later this month.

Envirothon/Biology Club returned from the Butler County Envirothon at Alameda Park May 1 with an armload of awardsβas well as bragging rights for sweeping this yearβs competition.
Seneca Valley had three teams attend the event and came away with first, second and third place:
- 1st Place Team: Graham Bitzer, Madeleine Burr, Sarah Francino, Katie Maloney, Sydney Rasp.
- 2nd Place Team: Cody Campbell, Jessica Dressler, Aren Morris, Katie Rose, Kerry Uram
- 3rd Place Team: Allison Frayer, Caitlyn Goncz, Sara Goncz, Olivia Griffith, Morgan Vrana.
Each team member spent time throughout the school year studying one of five focus areas, including wildlife, soils, aquatics, forestry, and a current issue such as low-impact development.Β

At the competition, teams traveled to stations and took exams administered by professionals working in of each of the content areas; game commission, fish and boat, soils/forest conservation district.
The first place team next will travel to the state-level competition being held May 22-23 at University of Pittsburgh's Johnstown campus.
