Seneca Valley Freshmen Winners At Science & Engineering Fair

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, PA - Two Seneca Valley High School freshmen fared well in the 80th Pittsburgh Regional Science and Engineering Fair held recently at Heinz Field.

Nathan Smith won fourth place in the senior division physics category for his research on instigating nuclear fusion using muons, and Veronica Pimenova won two sponsor awards from PPG Industries and Harrisburg University for her research on creating a longer lasting glow-in-the-dark paint.

Additional Seneca Valley participants included Sam McCune, Olivia Tilton and Emma Reynolds.

These student scientists created projects following international science fair rules in order to compete in this esteemed regional fair, which serves as the qualifying event for the International Science and Engineering Fair, scheduled to be held in Phoenix this May.

Students are led by Seneca Valley Intermediate High School Gifted Support Teacher Patti Griest.
