Seneca Valley Holding Public ‘Garage’ Sale

Seneca Valley is cleaning out its closets—and you’re invited.

The district will hold a public garage sale from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18 at the maintenance garage across from the in Jackson Township.

Among the items for sale are old office, classroom and cafeteria equipment—and even a 1950s-era record player.

The items range in price from $2 for a classroom chair to $200 for a working kiln taken from ’s art room. And bargain shoppers take note; the price tags are not set in stone.

“Everything is negotiable,” said Linda Andreassi, Seneca Valley’s director of communications.

This is the second year in a row Seneca Valley has held the event. Last year, the district made $2,500 on the sale, which Andreassi said went back into the district’s general fund.

Andreassi said many of the items up for grabs Saturday—including overhead projectors and typewriters—were replaced in the district by newer technology.

Bob Cook, director of buildings, grounds and security at Seneca Valley, originally came up with the idea of selling the items once they started to pile up in storage, Andreassi said.  

“It was accumulating,” she said.

The district already has presold some file cabinets to Jackson and Cranberry townships, Andreassi said.
