Seneca Valley Looking for STEM Speakers for Lecture Series

If you have a career that uses science or math, students at Seneca Valley may want to talk—and learn—from you.

The newly-formed Seneca Valley Science Honor Society has created a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) lecture series that will be held throughout the school year.

Hosted in the senior high school auditorium, the lectures provide students with the opportunity to listen to individuals who can offer insights on working in a particular STEM field. Lecturers also share their personal experiences and their particular pathway to becoming an expert in their field. 

The goal is for students will take the opportunity to further network with these presenters and to explore opportunities to job shadow or intern in their particular area of interest, according to the district.

Josh Suereth, a software engineer working at Typesafe Inc. and the author of Scala In Depth, recently spoke to Seneca Valley students about his job promoting technology, programming and good Internet manners.
