Seneca Valley Raider Robotics Team Finishes Strong

Seneca Valley's robotics team was highly competitive in its first year.

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, PA - The Seneca Valley Raider Robotics FIRST Tech Challenge team finished its season with two trips to the semi-finals and a second-place finish. The FIRST Tech Challenge is designed for students in grades 7-12 designing, building and programming a robot to compete in an alliance format against other teams.

Seneca Valley's initial FIRST Tech Challenge team consisted of ten students: Bri Buccini, Felipe Junqueria, Dalton Reese, Emily Richards, Mackenzie McIntyre, Jocelyn McNany, Kyra Rodgers, Charlotte Purcell, Zach Garcia and Jocelyn Krieger.

Seneca Valley robotics coach and applied engineering and technology teacher Steve Fortunato said the team worked hard to prepare for all three of their state qualifying matches this year.

“We are now looking to grow our community outreach, develop workshops and camps for our future teammates and prepare for the 2020-21 season,” he said in a district release.

Raider Robotics will host a Robotics Night Open House on Feb. 25 for any student in grades 6-12 interested in the robotics program.
