Seneca Valley School District Budget Holds Line On Taxes

The district's 2018-19 budget is good news for taxpayers.

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, PA - No programming cuts, no staffing cuts and best of all no tax increase. The Seneca Valley School District’s 2018-19 proposed budget appears to be a winner on all fronts.

School directors on June 11 are set to approve a $131.5 million final budget that will be balanced with $128.5 million in estimated revenues and a $3 million fund balance appropriation.

School board president Jim Nickel said in a district release that the board and administration deserve credit for consistent big-picture planning that takes into account short- and long-term goals.

“That planning is what allows us to propose this year’s budget at no increase in taxes,” he said. “When we are able to deliver a quality education to our more than 7,000 students and put forth a proposed budget with no increases in taxes, it’s a good day.”

Added superintendent Tracy Vitale: “We believe we have employed conservative, judicious spending that allows us to continue to provide a robust and successful educational program to students. Short and long-term planning is key to getting us to this point for the 2018-19 budget year.”
