Stomp Tops 5 Things To Do Around Cranberry This Weekend

If you’re worried that there aren’t enough entertaining activities to keep you hopping around town this Easter weekend, don’t be.

While the events calendar isn’t as populated as, say, New Delhi, there still are plenty of events worth attending. One of them is Stomp.

The international percussion sensation returns to Pittsburgh with an eight-member troupe that uses everything but conventional percussion instruments – matchboxes, wooden poles, brooms, garbage cans, Zippo lighters, hubcaps – to fill the stage with magnificent rhythms.

Stomp will be performed at the Benedum Center on April 15 at 2 p.m and 8 p.m. Tickets starts at $41.25.

• Super Science Saturday Egg-cellent Egg Hunt, April 15 at noon, Carnegie Museum of Natural History.

What would Easter weekend be without egg hunts? In this one, children ages 3-10 follow clues leading to treats. Scavenger hunt maps and prizes are available to the first 500 children. The event is free with
museum admission.

• “Fun Home,” Heinz Hall, April 15 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.; April 16 at 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

This landmark Broadway production won five Tony Awards in 2015, including best musical. Based on Alison Bechdel’s graphic memoir about seeing your parents through grown-up eyes, “Fun Home” was described by
The New York Times as “a rare beauty that pumps fresh air into Broadway.” Tickets start at $26,

• “Jesus Christ Superstar,” Palace Theater, Greensburg, April 15 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Stage Right! presents this timeless classic musical journey during the Easter weekend. This reverent and powerful staging will feature Vince Tresco as Jesus and Tony Marino as Judas. Tickets start at $18.

• Celebrate Butler County, April 15 at 10 a.m-4 p.m., Pittsburgh Marriott North, 100 Cranberry Woods Drive, Cranberry.

This event spotlighting that makes Butler County special will feature representatives from places such as Fun Fore All, Starlight Drive-In, Suncrest Golf Course, Jason’s Deli, Cranberry Township, Conley Resort and the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex.
