Triangle Pet Services Shut Down by State for Fraud

Triangle Pet Services of McKees Rocks, which works as a contracted animal control service in many local municipalities, including Cranberry, has been shut down by the state.

KDKA-TV is reporting that the kennel's owner allegedly ordered employees to doctor the books. The state is alleging the owner lied about the number of dogs euthanized, which cost the state in the tens of thousands of dollars.

The kennel is also accused of not properly caring for the dogs.

Triangle also provided service to Cranberry residents. Township manager Jerry Andree said the township already is moving on to an alternative provider.

"It is a seamless transition for us," he said. 

Andree noted residents did not call Triangle directly for service. All animal control complaints are first handled through the Cranberry Police Department.

Police would call Triangle for service based on the officer's determination of the situation, Andree said.  

He said the township had been paying Triangle $1,000 per month for providing 24 hour/seven-days-per-week service to Cranberry as well as regular patrols in the area.
