How Tweet It Is: Cranberry Wins State Award for Social Media Communications
The township is honored for connecting with residents on its Facebook, Twitter and YouTube pages.

With a customized YouTube channel, four Facebook pages and Twitter updates, Cranberry Township is a social media winner.
The Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors recently selected Cranberry as its first winner in the social media category of the association’s Township Citizen Communication contest. The annual event recognizes townships that have successfully communicated programs and activities to its residents.
“This recognition from PSATS is another validation of our township’s commitment to use all forms of communications to better serve our residents and businesses,” said Bruce Mazzoni, “The use of social media has become a major component of our overall communications strategy.”

placed first in the inaugural year of the social media category for its Facebook and Twitter pages and its YouTube Channel. All entries were judged on the usefulness of the information presented and how well the information was communicated to the residents.
Cindy Marzock, communications specialist with the township, said Cranberry created its YouTube page in 2008. Facebook and Twitter pages followed in 2009.

Judges for the contest included members of the association’s publications-public relations committee, representatives from the Governor’s Center for Local Government Services and staff members from Pennsylvania Township News, the association’s monthly magazine.
