Two Cranberry EMS Staffers Honored

Andrew Bell and Matt Nickl were lauded by their peers.

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, PA - Two Cranberry Township Emergency Medical Service staffers were honored by co-workers at a recent awards ceremony: Andrew Bell was named Emergency Medical Technician of the Year and Matt Nickl was chosen as the EMS Paramedic of the Year.

Bell, a full-time staffer since 2015, last fall oversaw Save a Life Saturday – a popular free program created to teach CPR fundamentals to local residents. EMS Deputy Director Ted Fessides said Bell did a fantastic job with that assignment and always helps his colleagues in other ways. Bell is currently enrolled in school to become a Paramedic.

Nickl, a former emergency service dispatcher, was instrumental in helping the Cranberry EMS to secure its third new ambulance. He also played a central role in helping the EMS transition from a paper-based charting system to an electronic one. In recognition of his work on behalf of the agency, Nickl was chosen by its three most senior managers to receive the EMS Directors’ award.

Bell and Nickl received commemorative plaques and a $100 bonus.
